The Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville announced the changes it’s going to incorporate over the next five years, in the June 29th Huntsville General Committee meeting.

The Theatre is expecting a 10% increase in attendance, going from 67% to 77%. 5% of the increase is expected to be for events with 6 new shows, and the other 5% will be “in consultation with other theatres in the area,” said the Manager of Recreation, Culture and Heritage, Trish Conley-Knight.

Food and beverages will be incorporated into some shows, as a part of special events, and this change will, “increase the level of service for more unique fun for customers,” said Knight.

Other changes include:

  • Culture Pass. Customers will have the opportunity to attend shows from a variety of facilities, in addition to the theatre, such as the Heritage Place, Summit Centre and Art Exhibits.
  • VIP Ticket. Allows customers to have a “meet and greet” with performers, such as backstage or possibly for a lunch.
  • Boutique Experience. An event that allows a group of people entertainment outside of the theatre.

Off times will be an opportunity for incentives for the community, such as school field trips.

Councillor Tim Withy supported the plan, saying, “I’m pleased and happy to see this has been well thought through and researched.”
