MPP Graydon Smith says new family doctors will soon be practicing in Muskoka, thanks to the Ontario government’s Practice Ready Ontario program.

Starting in 2025, six internationally trained physicians will join communities in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, and Sundridge.

The program, launched in 2023, fast-tracks the integration of internationally educated doctors into Ontario’s healthcare system by eliminating the need for re-education.

This will connect over 7,200 people to primary care in the region.

Smith says that by 2025, the program aims to add 100 family doctors in rural and northern communities across the province.
