Sewing needles in the water at Kirby's Beach in Bracebridge closes beach
The Town of Bracebridge says that Town staff are aware of a situation that has caused concern at Kirby’s Beach Park and continue to conduct a thorough review of the beach, water and park following sewing needles being found in the water at the beach.
The Town says site inspection and maintenance frequency will be increased at Kirby’s Beach Park, which includes beach raking, cleaning and garbage collection.
The Town says they take community safety seriously and are working closely with the Bracebridge OPP who will be increasing patrols of the area.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, the beachfront and water access at Kirby’s Beach Park will be closed until further notice. The park, playground, washroom facilities and picnic tables will remain open.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings at all times and report anything that seems suspicious.
