Huntsville signs 2 new doctors
The Town of Huntsville has announced that two physicians have signed on to become new doctors in town—one establishing a new practice and another taking over an existing practice.
The Town says one more doctor is in the process of signing. Additionally, three more physicians are expected to join by summer 2025.
In response to a pressing need for family physicians, Huntsville Town Council implemented a Physician Incentive Program in June. To encourage recruitment, the General Committee has approved a $70,000 incentive for physicians who take over practices and help reduce the waitlist for over 200 patients.
Councillors Scott Morrison and Bob Stone expressed optimism about the program’s success, noting the positive impact on patients awaiting care.
Residents are reminded not to contact physician offices directly about new arrivals, but to register for care at algonquinfht.ca/need-a-doctor.
