Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare and the Huntsville Hospital Foundation have unveiled a new Bone Mineral Densitometry machine at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
This state-of-the-art equipment, funded by community donations, will provide timely osteoporosis screenings for patients. The non-invasive procedure uses low-intensity X-rays to assess bone health and detect conditions like osteoporosis, which can lead to fractures in older adults.
The new system offers sharper images, faster scans, and reduced radiation. With over 1,600 local patients relying on bone density imaging each year, the upgraded technology promises improved care and early detection for those at risk.
