Town of Huntsville General Committee has agreed to help support the Huntsville Art Society by offering them space in Partners Hall at a reduced rate for the 2022 season.

The agreement will see the Huntsville Art Society pay an annual rental fee of $1,800 plus HST to display and sell their art with a 20% commission plus HST being paid to the Town on sales.

The Huntsville Art Society requested a reduced fee to help them recover from the pandemic, which saw them not be able to use the Town’s space, as well as not being able to do as many shows as in normal years.

The annual rental fee was $2,500 in 2019, and $2,625 in 2020/2021.

Council was supportive of the rate reduction on the one-year contract, as well as being happy to see the art hanging in Partners Hall again.

Mayor Karin Terziano says, “it’s great to see the art hanging again instead of blank walls.”
