A 10-month human trafficking investigation, called Project Nebula, has led to two arrests and 36 charges. Launched in September 2023 by the Provincial Human Trafficking Intelligence-led Joint Forces Strategy, the probe uncovered trafficking extending from eastern Ontario to Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Police say that on July 9th, arrests were made in Ottawa as part of a multi-jurisdictional effort involving various police forces, including the OPP Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and the RCMP.

The investigation identified three female victims and resulted in 17 human trafficking charges and 19 related charges against a 45-year-old from Brampton and a 33-year-old from Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Both remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on September 9, 2024.

A publication ban is in effect, limiting further details.
