Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith has tendered his resignation following his election as MPP for the riding.  Smith has been on an unpaid leave of absence to allow him to campaign in the provincial election.

The resignation comes into effect immediately, not only as mayor, but also as a councilor at District Council.

The Town will have to declare his seat vacant and choose someone to take his place. 

Deputy Mayor Rick Maloney was appointed as acting mayor while Smith took his leave.
