The new Gravenhurst Mayor, Heidi Lorenz, and Council members were administered the Declaration of Oath of Office at the Gravenhurst Opera House on November 17, 2022.

Former Mayor, Paisley Donaldson, introduced Lorenz with the chain of office, indicating that she “will serve the community with pride and determination.”

Lorenz is replacing Outgoing Mayor, Paul Kelly, who congratulated her via Zoom, adding, “The residents probably don’t grasp the significance of the challenges, the opportunities that you’re going to face over the next few years… You will have lots of challenges but lots of really great opportunities as well.”

Lorenz expressed gratitude to Kelly for his “mentorship, kindness, and confidence in me.”

“Four years from now I want to have improved the lives of all our residents. I will celebrate diversity and welcome feedback. I will keep an open door and an open mind,” added Lorenz.

Areas that Lorenz indicated she wants to address include housing, transportation, and communication. She added, “The road ahead may be rocky at times, but I promise the triumphs will outweigh the struggles and together we can clear the path for a brighter future.”
