Gravenhurst Planning Post COVID Celebration
Gravenhurst council unanimously voted in favour of pursuing the planning of a Post COVID-19 Community Celebration.
The approximate cost will have the financial impact the between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on factors such as the performers hired, food, advertising, and possibly fireworks. The allocation of the funds for the event will be part of 2022 budget considerations.
The outdoor celebration will be organized by town staff and external volunteers. It will include a public thank you to community volunteers, as well as family activities, musicians, and a barbecue. Fireworks are also being considered.
Manager of recreation services Shawna Patterson says, “we look forward to doing something as a community, recognizing the public for helping their neighbours get through this.”
The celebration will take place once the province has moved into the step where community events are allowed.
