Caroline Kirkpatrick asked Gravenhurst Council for the town's endorsement regarding an annual community clean-up program titled Team Up to Clean Up.

Kirkpatrick says the endorsement, “would demonstrate the town's commitment to the protection and preservation of our natural environment.”
The option put forth would see a week-long effort aligning with Environment Week that happens annually the first week of June.
The majority of council was in favour of the event as well as the timing. This would also be an opportunity to gain additional participation from the increased population of cottagers and visitors arriving with the warmer temperatures.
The approximate annual cost is $5,600, which would come from the Infrastructure Services Operation Budget. The funds are needed for supplies, safety equipment and training for participants and signage in clean-up areas.
