Developers for multi-unit property on Highway 60 recently appeared before the Huntsville Planning Council, seeking permission to add a storey to one of 4 condominium buildings and make changes to a retaining wall built in accordance with approved plans.

The retaining wall was originally approved for a concrete wall, but councillors heard that a steel retaining wall was constructed due to geotechnical concerns, which is 2.5 to 3.5 metres high. The applicants propose lowering the wall and converting Building 4 to include a basement, which would require a bylaw exemption to exceed height limits.

In a split vote,  council approved a provisional bylaw allowing the wall to remain if its height is lowered, and requested a redesign if feasible.
