Businesses in Huntsville have collaborated to give the gift of warmth this winter season with a Coats For Kids winter coat drive.

Spearheaded by Melissa Daleman and in partnership with Rotary People of Action Huntsville, the Hunt House, Trinity United Church and Hunters Bay Radio the coat drive will run for the month of October with distribution the first two weeks of November.  Warm winter coats, new or gently used, can be dropped off at any of the partnering businesses throughout the month. The participating drop off partners include the Hunt House, Mobile Marine, Community Living Huntsville, Chestnut Park (Main Street), and Hyundai of Muskoka.

“My kids attend elementary school in Huntsville and as a Mum, last year I was heartbroken to see the number of kids who weren’t wearing appropriate winter attire. There were kids in raincoats! I knew I had to try to do something so I reached out to the People of Action Rotary Club for assistance in bringing it all together.,” says Daleman.

The group is accepting new and gently used winter coats for age’s newborn to 14yrs. They ask that the coats are either new or gently used with no rips or patches, have working hardware and are clean.

“The People of Action Rotary Club was thrilled to partner with Melissa to help her achieve her goal! Our mandate is boots on the ground making a difference in our community and this initiative is perfect, something we can really rally around.” Says Jennifer Jerrett, President, Rotary People of Action Huntsville.

Coats can be dropped off:

  • Hunt House (Mon-Fri 9-5pm / Sat 9:30-3pm)
  • Mobile Marine (Mon-Fri 8-5pm / Sat 9-1pm)
