The Town of Bracebridge is trying to nail down some firm dates when it comes to major projects.

One of those is the creation of a splash pad in town. The project appears in the Town’s long term plan but Mayor Graydon Smith said during a recent general committee meeting that it seems like the project has been languishing for some time. Smith said he’d like to start the process of determining exactly when and where the project would go forward.

There was also some discussion of exactly what’s going to happen with the downtown Timber Mart, which the town purchased for $3 million in 2017. The Town has not said exactly what they intend to use the property for but Coun. Mark Quemby mused that perhaps the splash pad could be located there.

Town staff said more environmental and risk assessment needs to be done, but in the meantime, money is being set aside to help tackle some of the major upcoming capital costs.
